Dino Duckling is a hit with our toddler, so much so, we've added the board book version to her birthday book wishlist.Our toddler loves repeating the phrase, " Scales or feather, big or small, we're a family, and there's room for us all."It provides a great teaching moment surrounding diversity, letting young ones know it's ok to be different.An update will be provided when I receive the board book, this review is for the hardcover version.Let me know your child's favorite moments?

Dino Duckling is another Alison Murray book that I like. This is a little like the ugly duckling except to an extreme. He is more than a swan, he is HUGE! But of course teaching him how to swim and fish and be happy is just as much pleasure as it is for her other babies. "we're a family and we all fit in." So sweet and cute.

Won't someone please, perhaps his friend Robert MacFarlane, go through Deakins papers so this book won't have to be his last? Another excellent book going undeservedly undernoticed and unsung. Believe it or not one of the best chapters is "Among Jaguars"-a chapter on automobiles in a book about trees; I squeal with delight! Find out a great deal about cricket bats and eel traps, and the Green Man, among other fascinating things. Squeezing himself inside a hollow thousand year old holly, full of holes and decay: "Yet the tree was in full foliage and blackbirds were sampling the first of its ripe pink berries." A book to be savored...

My husband said, "Read this book,you will love it." He could not have been more right. I do not know when I have read a book I loved more than this journey around the world of trees. Having grown up in the Midwest, in a little Iowa town full of maple trees and river bottoms, I was so at home in this book I cried when I read the last page. I travel in Britain, particularly Wales, when I can, and have been in some of the ancient groves. I once walked a footpath through the woods near Stackpole, and got so thoroughly lost that when I emerged on a road hours later, it was a terrible shock. I had been in the world of trees. Deakin took me back to that place so thoroughly, that one night at about 3:00 I stopped reading and was surprised to find myself on my couch in front of the fire, I had been so immersed in the walnut trees of Kyrgystan. Roger Deakin is no longer on this earth, but these works of his will endure in the genre of nature writing forever.

I think the books and writing of the late Roger Deakin are all marvellous. Loved Wildwood, loved Notes from Walnut Tree Farm, loved Waterlog: so sad that he has died at a relatively early age. Sadly, for readers who care about the natural environment, he will write no more.

Deakin does a wonderful job to change our perspective on an essential part of the natural world. Full of heart (and craft), highly intelligent, sometimes slow going but ultimately unforgettable.

These essays are delightful and span this man's life experience in woods around the world, but mostly in his homeland of England. A book you pick up and put down easily since most of the essays are short.

An excellent Nature read written in a charming British style. I felt like I was there with Mr. Deakin.

It was at my doctor’s office that I first heard the expression HIIT. He was asking if I was exercising, and I was telling him I just couldn’t find anything that kept me interested. He described high intensity working out and when he said it might only take 10 minutes a day, I searched and found Staying Young with Interval Training. I like several things about this book. A doctor writes it, so it provides a good explanation of muscles and cells that I had never understood before. But it also gives good illustrations of exercises that I can handle – nothing was too hard, and exercises are broken into beginner, intermediate and advanced. I love the various routines, and my doctor was right – the routines are 5 minutes with 4 minutes for the stretch warm-ups. Under 10 minutes! It has kept me interested, and the stretches make the day start right.

Stay Young is a book I wanted to impress upon my mom. She used to walk often, but because she’s in a hot climate and is now without buddies to walk with, it’s dangerous. I try to remind her over and over, she has to work out before she is just not able to at all. But I get it- I like working out and I frequently take weeks off at a time. But after reading through this myself first, I’m a believer in doing things like HIIT! It gives your cells, down to the mitochondria, a kick in the butt. Well HELLO, I’m getting older and I could use some youth boosting. I also like that the study cited is about 64-80 year olds. No getting out of saying it’s too intense for her age. I’ve done a lot of these exercises already, so it’s not creating a new world, but the way in which you do them is the key. Try it and get some young and sprightly cells!

While I'm definitely not the target age group for this book, I think it's still something that I can use and that will help me make a difference in my life. Motivating myself to start exercising is really difficult, especially because I find it boring and time consuming. So this idea of High Intensity Interval Training is something I find fascinating. I really like how Tieri lays out the data for you, including medical studies of the benefits and explaining how high intensity interval training works. Tieri gives you stretches to do before starting the interval training, tips on how to avoid injury, and foods to eat to prepare your body. I found this book to be simply laid out, filled with stretches and exercises I can do, and chock full of helpful information for starting interval training.

This is a great exercise book for people especially over 50. We all know we need to exercise. Some like it, some do not. This book explains how exercise interacts with muscle, cellular health, disease prevention and fitness. All the exercises are clearly illustrated and explained. The author has included 10 routines for each level. Beginner, Beginner Plus, Intermediate, Intermediate Plus, Advanced and Advances Plus. Many of the exercises have variations. There is also a section for posture improvement. The only additional equipment needed to perform these exercises are a foam roller and chair. I especially like that these exercises do not take a long time and are easy to do.

Wow. I've never had a workout this intense before-- but what's amazing is I managed to feel as invigorated after 20 minutes as I usually do after a full hour class at a gym. The book starts out with a detailed overview of why the HIIT exercise model is ideal for maximizing your results. Afterwards, it talks about how to incorporate the rest of your life-- diet, sleep habits, etc-- into this new lifestyle. But the bulk of the book is dedicated to showing you the individual HIIT workouts you should be practicing-- showing you the form, explaining what it works and what to look out for. What a great purchase.

At the age of 83, I thought I was too old to try any new exercise program. However, after reading the book and consulting my doctor, I decided to try some of the exercises. The results have been very gratifying, and I am now inspired to continue.

It's mainly morbid curiosity that keeps you reading this intense book. There were parts of this book that are pretty gory. I knew some of these people since I lived in Miami at the time all this was going on. But not knowing their complete story it was shocking to read about the dark side of who they really were. Its not a book for everyone but if you live in a world of rose colored glasses you will be taking them off forever because this is the real story about the madness, corruption, filth and dishonesty that happened in that era. Knowing Miami well it really took me back in time and I got to see a whole different perspective of my home town.....wow!!!! I'm glad I read it a real eye opener enjoy it for what it is Blunt up front no nonsense information that will blow your mind....no pun intended when I said Blow!! which you will understand when you read the book.

If you like to read about organized crime then it doesn't get much better than this book. The footnotes are even fascinating. Evan Wright let's Jon Roberts tell his story and it's fascinating as hell. Hard to believe he lived it, but it's well sourced. These are some of the people and events Jon Roberts talks about: his evil father, the Gambino family, a standoff with John Gotti in a basement, kidnapping Jimi Hendrix, Vietnam and assassinations, the C.I.A., Pablo Escobar, the godmother, killing Gators, a dog with specially made gold teeth, etc. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

I bought it after watching Cocaine Cowboys thinking, " Maybe that cool old guy'll tell some more crazy stories." Things get dark quickly, then surreal, then hilarious, then unbelievable and it just keeps going from there. And you quickly realize that you would be deathly afraid to be anywhere near this guy. Ever. But even after you get over the fact that that pleasant old guy with the cool stories used to literally skin people alive, American Desperado still has probably hundreds of "No way!" moments in store. As well as practical tips like "gravity is you friend - whenever I'm punching, stabbing, or swinging a bat - it's always downwards....", how to fix a horse race and, of course, how to properly dispose of a body (it involves water and the intestines ). This guy even used to taunt Bruce Lee, though he admits he's glad Lee never took the bait. And it goes on and on. Unfortunately not forever though.

A great Book, the Jon Roberts that Jon Himself tells about is a different one than what one would think from seeing the mpvie Cocaine Cowboys. Jon has passed away recently from Cancer.Let me put it straight to you, I know people that knew him personally and was under his employ from working with Horses. Jon is very unapologetic he was one of the meanest sons of bitches to walk the streets of South Florida and New York City. He had the capacity to kill and maim and go to lunch like it never happened. A sociopath with a big heart but also had a dark side that one would be best to have respected and feared if they crossed him .The book is good, funnt at times and is the most in depth look at what was going on in the 80s in Miami.He does not blow his own horn at how big a player he was he does not need to.

I am a little surprised this book is not rated higher. It is maybe the best true crime book/biography I have ever read. It reads like a movie, and Jon Roberts has so many stories to tell in this book - and most of them are white-knuckle type reading. I don't feel he is glamorized much at all. Usually the subject of a book like this tries to make themselves seem more sympathetic or more of a hero figure - but the brutality and the admission of choosing evil comes up so many time in the book. It is a chilling book - and I don't look at the book as one where, after reading it, a person would choose to live that life unless they already had that in them. I think the story is told in more of a: This is how it was, this is the horrible things that were done - and I should have had a conscious about it - but I didn't.Also, the people who are supporting characters are almost as interesting as Jon Roberts. Mickey Munday especially and the cartel people Jon Roberts meets and partners or works with have their own interesting back stories and takes on things. His bodyguard was a wrestler who went by the wrestling name "The Thing". I will be surprised if this book is not made into a movie at some point in the future. There were so many interesting facets to it.I can't recommend this book enough. I am surprised it would not be universally reviewed as 4 or 5 stars, unless the reader is one that doesn't have the stomach for violence and disturbing situations - then I would understand completely giving this book a lower rating. If that is you, stay away from this book.

Great read a truly enjoyable book. This book was recommended by a co- worker and from the moment I picked it up I was enthralled. Evan Wright's narration and historical documentation are well substantiated. Jon Pernell Roberts tells it like it is and makes no bones about it. American Desperado is not your typical wise guy story telling. He dispels the romanticized Hollywood depiction of life in the Mafia. It's much more graphic, sociopathic and realistic. Jon Roberts makes it clear he's no saint and has his own demons to live with. This book is brutally honest and forthright. It's disturbing, factual and humorous. His years of drug smuggling and involvement with the Medellin Cartel and it's hierarchy is unbelievable. This Organization known for its ruthless and vindictive tactics is presented as a business corporation driven beyond greed.There are so many aspects and layers to American Desperado. Government corruption local and worldwide; clandestine CIA operations which exposed the Iran-Contra affair and the American invasion of Panama during the 1980's. There are numerous depictions of famous movie stars and professional athletes exploiting the pleasures of the cocaine lifestyle in its glory days during the 70's and 80's. However criminal Jon Roberts is and the world he lived in tells a part of history that is unforgettable.

The book was as good as expected. It takes time and effort to work through the exercises. A lot of the problems at the end of each chapter were hard to figure out because there are just not enough examples to guide you. In general, the book is a good source of reference when you work with either governmental or non-for-profit accounting.

It's not the most interesting book in the world (mainly due to the topic), but it presented the material well enough to give the reader a solid understanding of the subject matter. The book is priced reasonably compared to many other textbooks.

The book is very good except some one smoke when they read it or it store in a smokey place.strong smell!

This book is very indepth and not for someone that is not detail oriented and doesn't already have a strong knowledge of accounting transactions. Also the text covers more about government accounting than Not-For-Profit.

AMAZING!!!! Another great add to this rock series. We pick up right where we left off, recording in Miami and the temptation has hit its limit with a fierce intensity. Halo and Viper's "band mates with benefits" plan sounds like the perfect solution...at first. Sinful and wicked lust keep these two locked together with hot sexy scenes that you can't help but want to devour. But that chemistry and burning desire starts to run deeper then they realize. Things are shifting, changing for these two. It's becoming real and they want to get to know each other outside of the bedroom; hanging out becomes dating and old fears begin to surface. With each passing day that Fallen Angel begins to rise in music world Viper is counting down the days he has left with Halo. Halo is coming to the realization that he is indeed famous, the new rules of how he lives his life are overwhelming and eye opening for him. The mix of attraction/relationship vs. dealing with the spotlight that comes with it adds a unique touch here that dragged me in. The band is growing closer too and united, working together to make this new band/album something fresh and inspiring. All the behind the scenes moments with recording, photo shoots and interviews only enhance this series more. Of course there's twist and turns that have you guessing what could happen next, add in side characters like Imogen and Wendy and you want to know more. And OMFG THE ENDING!!!! I can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.

Holy fcking hotness, Batman!I'll tell ya, just when I thought it couldn't get any sexier or hotter than HALO, this happened and man was I wrong!This was fcking scorching. At every turn, nonstop and unapologetically. Hot AF and then some. And some more...It was also fun and sweet but it was just so hot and intense that that's all I can recall right now...All that raw, feral, just pure animalistic, all consuming intensity which sent everything else up in flames and down to ashes 🔥Perfect.I'll keep reading 📖

I admit it, I was a little worried that this book would end on a crazy cliffhanger that would have me biting my nails for another month until the third book is released, but I was pleasantly surprised. We see Viper's vulnerable, emotional side, and this was so well done that I was a little nervous that Halo would inadvertently break his heart. There is some push/pull, but it makes perfect sense as these two figure out what kind of relationship they're both invested in. I can't wait to read the third book to see how everything unfolds.

This one was when the rubber met the road. You meet David and understand why he hides behind the Viper persona. You watch Halo come to terms with an attraction he’s never experienced and also become a true member of an established band.The character development is outstanding and the hotness hotter. The ending was the sweetest thing. I can’t wait for the finale and have an idea for the cover (photo shoot chapter 14).

Once again, these authors bring such believable characters alive. I devoured this book. Goes on my favorites shelf. Can't wait for the next one.

They keep drawing us in!! Brooke and Ella have created a world that is simply amazing. Can't wait for April 25! Viper and Halo are hot!!

Oh-My-God!!!!!!!I screamed so much my husband came into the room!! This book is EVERYTHING! If you think you know Viper, you know NOTHING. This man has so many layers to him. He runs deeper then he let's on. I saw glipses of the real Viper, while reading Halo. I saw behind his Rock God persona. When Viper let's his walls down and acts from his heart, it is a BEAUTIFUL SITE. There were so many moments where he took my breath away. In this book, we learned about his past and what made him into the man he is today. We all know who Viper is, now we meet David...... Ella and Brooke are masters at getting their readers addicted! Halo and Viper slowly wrapped themselves around my heart and now they are permanently embedded there! I am obsessed and borderline stalker in love with them. The scorching hot chemistry we felt between them in book 1, only intensified in book 2, but with it came some shocking emotional revelations, neither guy wanted to face... They had my heart thumping and butterflies swarming in my belly!! I loved watching them stumble through their supposed "no commitment relationship." hummm I think Viper protests his feelings too much.Sweet, sweet Halo his heart is so pure and open. His vulnerability and modesty made me want to eat him up. Halo is a deadly combination of goodness and fire! How could Viper resist?? This angel sure knows how to tempt and maybe even tame the devil.He is definitely a FALLEN ANGEL IN MORE WAYS THEN ONE. Viper might be an alpha male but Halo is no pushover. He knows what he wants and what he willing to put up with. Watch out the angel has a bite! I loved how he came into his own and truly became part of the band.Speaking of the band, I must give them accolades.... I love all the guys. Slade, Killian and Jagger brought the fun. They had me cracking up, but I also felt the trust and love between them.Book 3 Angel can not come fast enough. How will the all handle their exploding fame?

the e-book You Were Stabbed Where?: Real Stories from a Small-Town ER is the third book that I have read from the author Kerry Hamm. I obviously enjoy her books if I keep reading them. I would recommend that the author re-edit parts of the book because either words are left out of a sentence here or there or she possibly dropped sentences in a couple of the stories. Her stories are entertaining, some are sad and or stupid. I intend to read the other three of her books that I've collected. She's a good writer and her stories are insightful.

Another in a series of books from our favorite ER registration lady. Yes not the docs not the nurses the ER registration lady and not some hot shot trauma center. This is a book for you if you want the drama not the trauma. All the nuts, self absorbed people, and crazy situations that go on in this small town ER make Bellevue look tame or maybe Bellvue's registration lady needs to write a book. Highly recommend and you don't need to start from Book one as the Author smartly catches you up.

Anecdotes concerning Emergency Dept. patients and their various problems, from the view of the registration desk. Entertaining, amusing. I read once and passed it on to a friend, and I assume it will be going the rounds. Not a long read.

All of the books by this author are fantastic. Hopefully, there will be more in the future.

Kerry, please don't let criticism of little bits that are off, like spelling or punctuation, cause you any consternation. I am far more interested in the stories, funny and sad, and certainly did not expect literary fiction, a là Toni Morrison, when I downloaded this and others of your works. I truly enjoy them. As they say, thanks for sharing.

Kerry really captures humanity and craziness in her stories. Some are so bizarre you'd think they were made up, but they're all true and funny!

It is a fast read and is amusing. It made me smile from time to time and that is what we need at the end of the day.
