Overall a 5 star series of books. The writing is tight, without repetition, the characters are interesting & I like them & the situations are unique & not all murders. I appreciate the fact that they don't kill off everyone in the village one by one, the cops aren't always being represented as stupid idiots, the folks solving the mysteries are everyday folks, one with a little experience & our investigators aren't suspected of every crime. It's a refreshing take.
I'm in love with this series! Love Cherringham, and the developing characters. Quick reads with interesting mysteries that I can enjoy during lunch or when I have a free hour or two!I have purchased all of the compilations and the novel and also the first three in English from Audible!
Okay now I am pissed.....I am so into this series. It is so great to listen to in the gym. NOW I can't buy the subsequent compilations unless I speak German...which I don't. What the heck is this all about. So 16 - 18 may be all I can do with Sarah and Jack and their families. I even tried to skip 19 - 21 and move on to 22 etc. German!
These are fun mysteries. I like them because they are a series so I get to know the characters.Unfortunately, the later Episodes are only in German....what is with that? They are English mysteries.I am reading them on a digital download, but I like listening to them.
By the 16th story, the town and all the characters seem like folks I've known for years...a comfortable place to " be English"; even if just pretending. Jack and Sarah are friends. Yes, friends. Sharing their personalities is a wonderful escape from the dreadful fiction found on popular TV here in the US. Bravo writers!!!
Continuing great mysteries. Like jack and Sarah to discover love for one another. 14 , 15 years apart not too much if you have lots in common and being together is better than being apart.
The writing is well done .The plot is imaginative and the characters are well portrayed.One thing I fine to be very distracting and annoying is the overuse of the word "hmm".After a while counting the times it appears in a paragraph overtakes the concentration of the book.However I have purchased all the series compilations available and have recommended these books to my friends.
I like all these shorter English cozy novels - really a cut above the average. Am down to the last three now and hate to see it end.
