Just got this book, Kindle edition, and am already sorry I bought it. I decided to browse the meal plan before reading the whole book. The charts of foods to eat, menus, etc., are unreadable. You can't enlarge the script. You can't do anything with it. It is absolutely unreadable. Terrible. Do not buy Kindle edition of this. May be a good book but I'll be unable to see a good part of it. Kindle: you have to fix this stuff soon. Very bad format for anything containing charts or insets. I love the ease of getting a book right away but it's no good if you can't see it.

This is a great cookbook. It is a combination of the Mediterrean Diet and the DASH diet. The author claims it is a scientific approach foir enhancing brain function and helping to prevent Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I have and have had family members with both Alzheimer’s and Dementia. These are brutal conditions! This book will help me prepare healthier brain food for my family. Each recipe has: MIND foods, yeild, time, difficutly and nutritional values. They are very easy to follow and ingrediants are easy to find.I enjoyed reading the descriptions of each food. It was also very helpful to know what food was available in each season. Some of the foods I have never tried, but after reading the description of what they look like, taste like and how to prepare them, I will incorporate them into our diet. Thank you Maggie Moon for having sample food planning charts to get me going.

As my parents get older, I become more and more aware of their health- including their mental health! The possibility of dementia is always with us as we age, and this book helps us eat food that will hopefully lessen the possibility. These recipes are designed to improve memory and mental acuity. The author is registered nutritionist and knows what she is talking about. The "brain food" in this book is not only healthy, but also delicious! These recipes are detailed and easy to follow. There are even relatively healthy desserts! I am a big fan of this cookbook and have been enjoying it very much. My parents have been loving it too. Highly recommended!

I like the MIND Diet because the basis of it centers around nourishing the whole body and reducing our carbon footprint. I’ve felt that in past years, my memory has begun to fade. It is described in the book as cognitive decline. It’s a good idea to eat better now to help my overall well being and to help keep me sharp.Separated into four parts, the diet covers the science of the diet, meal prep, recipes, and a summary of tips and tools. What I do like is that alcohol (wine) is included in the diet. It even points out that moderate alcohol intake reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. There is even a section that breaks down wine pairings.I also like the idea of the score guide mentioned in the book to help keep track of food groups and goals (keep in mind that you can have one serving of wine a day). I've also printed out the worksheet to help in meal planning/prep.Of course with any good diet book, it includes recipes. Some of my favorites; Almond-Crusted Baked Salmon, Grilled Apricot-Glazed Salmon (can you tell I like salmon?), Blueberry Peach and Avocado Salsa, Guacamole-Stuffed Tomato Poppers, Lemon Roasted Asparagus and the Bluberry Banana Ice Cream. It’s a smart diet. If you want to know the right steps towards health, mind and body, this is a good diet to use.

There are millions of cookbooks and guides that claim they can make you lose weight or give you more energy etc. It's difficult to find a book such as this one, where the first focus is how the food we eat affects our brain function. This cookbook is full of delicious recipes that are focused on improving brain function, however they're healthy in every respect. Though eating only the meals in the cookbook is not for everyone (make sure you check any and all pre existing conditions you have so that you can be certain the meals in this cookbook will work for you), incorporating some of these meals into your life will do you well. howeThe food in this cookbook is quite literally "brain food",the author Maggie Moon MS, RDN, is a registered dietitian nutritionist and has created a cookbook that addresses more than just weight loss or tastiness.

I only gave this book 3 stars for several reasons. Between the pages and pages on cleaning veggies, counters, hands etc. you come to believe that you have to live in a sterile environment. The only veggies you don't have to wash are those that are pkgd pre-washed. Sorry, but I don't believe that. Then the cooking temps. Those would be great if you like dried out, overcooked food. You're not supposed to eat sprouts unless it's sprouted grains. Very high in carbs and very low in protein. Also, way too high in bread for my liking. My biggest problem is that the charts can't be read nor can they be printed out. The recipes are mostly for large families and they can't be printed out either. All-in-all did not find much of value. I am an 82 yr old healthy senior that grew up before the germ hysteria set-in and still enjoy rare roast beef. I'll modify the diet to more fit my way of life.

Make up a grocery list and pick your favorite meals and snacks, then try other recipies until your kitchen is stocked!

Generally good- somewhat repetitive- leaves many questions unanswered re: use of certain foods such as yogurt, milk, etc.
