Yuki Shimizu's signature title goes out on a somber yet emotional note. The story has come full circle from the questionable first meeting of Takamiya and Izumi, and the slow and steady bond built between Aoe and Naoya, to show us the events in the past which shaped what would allow for these beautiful relationships to finally find fruition.I'm sad to see the series end. I remember when I read the first volume it wasn't all that great (I took issue with the way Takamiya pretty much forced himself onto and into the life of Izumi), but I kept buying the subsequent volumes because it was so highly praised, and, well, at the time there was a much more limited availability of BL in English. I'm glad I stuck it out. The Aoe/Naoya arc alone was worth the read, but the fact that the story fleshed out so many more characters and told such a rich story was something that makes the difference in this series being "good" to being "great."The final volume of Love Mode focuses around the story of Shiki, the mysterious shadow that has haunted and been the long-lasting bond between Aoe and Takamiya. The story takes us to England, where a vacationing Aoe, escaping from the burden of his family and resigned fate, meets Takamiya and Shiki through a series of coincidences. They stay together in a bed and breakfast in the English countryside and form a bond of friendship that has a transforming effect on Aoe's bitter and tortured personality. Aoe finds in Takamiya a friend who shares the same burdens of family as his own and in Shiki he finds someone he can care for outside of that same burden. The resulting tragedies that unfold are carefully executed and the resolution of the characters, bringing the story back to the present and the now content lives of all involved, is nothing short of perfection.There are virtually no love scenes to be found in this volume, just one very tasteful and appropriate one towards the end. Shimizu even comments in the notes at the end of the book how she had wanted to include some in the extra story at the end, but decided not to because the rest of the story was so serious.I think I'll have to reread the whole series again now, however. There were a lot of characters mentioned in this volume that I am embarrassed to say I had trouble remembering. Even Shuhei was a blank for a couple of minutes, especially when they kept switching between his first and last name when addressing him. I don't regard wanting to reread the series a bad thing, though. I'm actually quite looking forward to it, even though I still have other, unread titles waiting for attention.This volume constitutes a fantastic finale to a fantastic series and I highly recommend it to anyone who has read the previous volumes. I highly recommend rereading the entire series anyway after finishing the last volume and re-experiencing all of the stories that made this such a rich and rewarding experience.

This is the last book in this series and I must say the books are very well written and the art work is wonderful. I came across this by accident and am glad I did. Each main character has been given a pretty complete background so you understand why and how things happen. It sad, funny, and thought provoking. This volume brings the four main characters together to show how their life is now and how content and happy they have come to be. Must say that for Yaoi it is one of the best ever. Wish all these type of stories were as well done.

I love the story but Shiki flat out made me cry, and I don't cry easy. This series is definitely one of my top five favorites though, and I wish the story had continued.

The final book of Love Mode. Finally get to learn about shiki and how Aoe and Takamiya met. No matter how many times I read this book, I always cry at the end. Its so sad but happy at the same time. I would recomend Love Mode to anyone. Its a sweet series with many loveable characters, good, sweet yaoi, and just plain out awesome~

I can't believe I nabbed the first 3 volumes of this series in a bargain box for 9.99! I wasn't expecting much especially from the cover, but I figured if I didn't like them just trade them back in, but my goodness was I pleasantly surprised! Although I wasn't impressed with the art, the well paced and beautiful stories pulled me in. It is rare for me to look past the art in manga, and still find the artwork crude, sketchy and almost amatuerish, but the stories in Love Mode are well written, superbly paced and absolutely wonderful! I especially love volume 3 with Izumi and Arashi! This volume is a great end to the series - very romantic, and bittersweet. I really wish there was more! A definite must read for yaoi fans!

Professor Emeritus Geoffrey A. Cordell obtained his Ph.D. in synthetic natural product chemistry at the University of Manchester in 1970. After two years as a NATO postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry, M.I.T., he joined the College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). A Professor since 1980, he served as a Department Head for 12 years and as Interim Dean of the College of Pharmacy for almost three years, as well as holding several other senior academic and research administrative positions at the Department, College, and Campus levels. He was the Co-founder of the US - Thai Consortium for Pharmacy Education, which developed and trained faculty for six new schools of pharmacy in Thailand. He retired from the University of Illinois in 2007. Since 1983, he has served as President of Natural Products Inc., a consulting company. He is the author of about 600 research publications, book chapters, comprehensive reviews and professional publications; is the author of two books, with three more in progress; the editor of 37 books, including 29 volumes in the series “The Alkaloids: Chemistry and Biology”; is Associate Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines; and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of 26 international scientific journals. He is a former President of the American Society of Pharmacognosy, and is also an Honorary Member. In 1981, he was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Munich with Professor Hildebert Wagner. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Chemical Society, the Linnean Society of London, the American Society of Pharmacognosy, and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. In addition to assisting international organizations and corporations in several countries around the world to develop their research and academic programs, he is an Honorary Professor at Sichuan University, Chengdu, China; and at Amity University, Noida, India. He is also a Visiting Professor at universities in Peru, Malaysia, and Brasil, and an International Collaborative Partner of the UTAR Global Research Network in Malaysia in the areas of biodiversity and cancer. In addition, he is a member of the International Advisory Board of several natural product research institutes. I loved Persuasion. There are so many things to learn on how to be persuasive and make people listen to you. This book will teach you everything you need to learn how to be influential and persuasive. It is a first rate Jane Austen novel. As it is written in a form of older English language some sentences require a second read for full comprehension. But all in all a very enjoyable read.I heartily recommend the reading of this book to anyone who will understand and appreciate it. In other words, anyone that is a "teenager" should be able to read this novel with delight. Guys, you may not read it with delight, but, no doubt, you still will enjoy it. And I do so recommend you read it. It is not a sappy love, as foretasted it is a wonderful analysis, story, and work of art. Yes, I think effective storytelling is a work of art.This book taught us many methods to persuade people in a positive manner, this is a very knowledgeable book and the author really did a great job. A must read highly recommended.

Exciting and powerfully written book with an array of examples depicting the methods employed to persuade your subjects to compliance.I even practiced a few of the examples given in the book and it was fun to find that this Robert character actually knows what he's talking about. I definitely recommend this book, rather your looking for a first read, if you are already a genius in this theme then I cant assure you anything, rather than if your looking to see what themes a book should have for someone who asks you to recommend their first book about persuasion of the minds, this is a really good one.

This stood out from my search for persuasion books; #1 best seller and also within my desired price range.Hahaha, I would gladly recommend this book to all those marketing salespeople. They really would need this to improve their ‘persuasion’ *performances*.Though I hate to admit, I believe I am one of those people who had persuasion confused with manipulation (I have never done either to anyone though ;) ). The first paragraph of this book opened my eyes to that fact.Personally, I don’t really understand the reciprocity part, since I buy goods with bonus offer just because they are bonus! And not because I want to reciprocate, nor have I ever felt like I should return the favor. Anyways good points. This book will certainly be fascinating for many people, since it’s pretty much revealed in here how the marketing minds work. I think the part “marketing strategies” should be added to the title as well.

This book is well written and very helpful. By the help of this book I have learned some techniques to become master of manipulation and mind control. Inside of this book the author has described about persuasion psychology and compliance management very clearly. By reading this book I have learned about the basic techniques about persuasion. Actually, I needed to learn about how to develop my persuasion skills easily and quickly, for that reason I purchased this book a few weeks ago. This book guided me about how to influence human behavior. I have also learned mind reading secrets and mind control strategies. I got my question answered from this book and I am really glad to read this book.

I love how the book was written with the techniques and how these were presented in real life situations. What caught my attention is the first part which stated the true purpose of the book which says "to persuade you need to have a common purpose". As a business course degree holder, I can agree to the methods listed relating these on how to achieve higher sales and how to effectively present your product. Not only do the techniques apply to business but to life as a whole. You need to think and strategize when and how to lure other people and not to deceive them and most importantly you need to perfectly deliver these strategies if you are aiming at a target. Perfect organization of ideas and thoughts and the book was easy to read.

It was interesting to think about and learn about some of the motivations behind actions, and how they apply. The book served as a personal insight for me to determine best influence tactics based on certain situations. I feel that the information I've gained from reading this will give me a lot more confidence and will enable me to influence a wider range of people. I think it can do the same for anyone. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who was wanting to learn communicate great ideas but communicate influential ideas.

This is an excellent book to become a master of manipulation, influence and mind control. This book is written on important things of Persuasion. Inside this book you can find the basic technique of Persuasion and how to develop these techniques, how to influence human behavior, mind reading, the persuasive power of fear and other important things which are very useful for us. All topics are helpful.

This was a fun read, it talks mainly about human behaviours and reactions. Most of us probably have done some of the things that have been mentioned in this book even if unintentionally. It was very interesting for me to think of those situations from a different perspective. And also, very important to learn other possible reactions to certain behaviours. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly, and took my time reading it. I could "hear" Mr. King's "voice" in my head as I read this on my iPad Kindle app. I felt like I was reading something from a friend---as if he had written a personal letter to me--- to give me an understanding of what he went through to become the person he is today. I think that his directives about the "how-to's" and "don't do's" were very practical. I breathed a sigh of relief when I got the feeling that writing classes and clubs are kind of a waste of time. Just write, is what I think he was telling me, I mean, his audience. I will probably read it again. What I got from his personal, real-life-lessons is this: Read a lot. Read good stuff. Write all the time. Find a place and write. Don't share your stuff unless you share it with someone you can trust. Go with your gut. Write all the time (I said that already because he said it or inferred it frequently). Don't use the same adjective over and over. Stick to the point. Don't over-do it on the descriptions. Let your audience see the movie you see in your head, because if you write it well, they will. I am glad this wasn't a "point by point HOW TO WRITE a story or a book" book, because really, writing isn't something you can do easily from a bulleted list. Writing is something you do from your heart, and you keep doing it until it's right and good. And then when that person you trust reads your stuff and offers some criticism, you can take it for what it's worth and use it or not.

I purchased this book because the description stated that it contained all 4 books including Rage. What a disappointment to receive the book and open it to find that it includes only 3 of the 4 books... no Rage! If you are looking to complete your stephen king collection, avoid this copy! Incredibly frustrated buyer!

The main reason I bought this book was that the description said that it included the story "Rage". I was dying to read that, and the other three stories would be a bonus. Well, what a major disappointment to receive the book and find that "Rage" is not included. There are three stories, not four, and I will be returning this book due to false advertising. Very, very disappointed.

Some books I rate with 5 stars just because of my pleasure in the story. These aren't always well-written or creative, or something someone else would like. Then there are those books that are so well-crafted, not just with character development or storytelling but in the writing itself. This is one of those books. I've always given Stephen King credit as the "king of the flashback" and here he gives us some of what he does best, but he also shows again his ability to get inside the head of the character in the present. From making up lyrics to songs sung by a fictional boy band and the brand names of fictional ice cream treats, to details of a Midwestern city that make those of us living in Midwestern cities think ours is the one in the story. I wondered in the beginning of the book if King was making a game in paying homage to himself with hints he dropped to reference some of his previous best sellers, but he played this game for just a short while. There are plenty of other pop-culture references in the minds of the various characters that do well to establish their ages and backgrounds.As the story unwinds after the climactic events, my emotions surprised me. I've cried while reading books before, but not while reading the words of a bureaucratic proclamation!

I have been an on-again, off-again reader of Stephen King’s over the last decade or so (I was more loyal prior to that time) as sometimes I like his stuff and sometimes I don’t. The last one I read was the awful "Under the Dome," which was long, pointless and ultimately just silly, and I wasn’t thinking of reading anything else by him until I read a couple of reviews by Charles de Lint in a recent Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. I trust Mr. de Lint’s tastes, so when he praised "Mr. Mercedes" and its follow-up, I figured I’d give them a try. Mr. Mercedes is the nickname given to a man who stole a car (guess what make) and plowed into a group of job seekers standing outside a building waiting for a job fair, killing 8 and wounding many others. Recently retired cop Bill Hodges has been drifting since his retirement, regretting that he didn’t catch certain bad guys, including Mr. Mercedes, but when he receives a letter purporting to be from the villain, instead of succumbing to depression as the writer intended, he begins to investigate. And, of course, the investigation just becomes more and more dangerous as he continues to delve into the mystery…. The reader knows who the culprit is from early on in the book, so the appeal is following the cat-and-mouse hunt as the suspense builds. King is as good as he ever was with respect to his characters and plotting, and he’s always great with the gross-out scenes (which here are not too many, thankfully). This turns out to be the first book in a trilogy, and I’ve already picked up the second, "Finder’s Keepers," with the third due out in mid-2016. Fast-paced popcorn reading, "Mr. Mercedes" just hits the spot; recommended!
