The book itself has incredible explanations for standard american dialect. HOWEVER DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE VERSION. It is basically useless. The pages are cut in half in bizarre formats, the pages are not, numbered correctly, and the text size changes for no reason. BUY A HARD COPY.

As the title says "Speak with Distinction", the emphasis is on "distinction". How distinct the speech described in this book? It is distinct from any dialect in the states--whether is general american (mid western) or new york/boston or southern. It is called 'Standard' in some circles. This stage standard was ( is? ) taught in many conservatories, theater/voice schools across the states. Recently, there is a backlash against this kind of teaching to aspiring actors, and this backlash has resulted in "Knight-Thompson speechwork", whose book is "Speaking with skill: a skills based approach to speech training".What is this book good for? If you want a set of words with a particular vowel (lexical sets), or a particular combination of consonants (start, end and middle), this is handy. This book also contains many phrases, sentences, tongue twisters of a sort. You can use this book as reference and use the dialect/accent (say Jamaican accent) to train your students.

This is the bible on the classic, fancy mid-Atlantic accent. A great book for actors, linguists and geeks alike.

I highly recommend the book. But I don't think I should be made to post in order to continue reading and my studies. I paid for this book and I'm disappointed that a post is required to move on. Not good business. Not nice.

This book is a must have for anyone who wants to increase their voice skills. this is a textbook for my vocal production and audition class. it's necessary for actors to pronounce words correctly. for the everyday person, we must be understood. this book teaches the international phonetic alphabet that covers all the possible sounds spoken in the american language. it is a how to manual that guides you through each sound. this book is invaluable to anyone that wants to improve one's voice. there are plenty drills and exercises in the book for one to practice. the coolest thing about this method is that it teaches you exactly where to place your tongue to make the appropriate sounds. i don't know you but that is very useful. in schools we were taught to imitate and mimic through repeatition. i find it much more easier to learn voice when one know how sounds are produce instead of trial and error. this is a classic book for anyone to get because we all communicate. my teacher and i'm sure many others, call this the bible of voice training. anyone that requires voice for their livelihood must get this book, especially a hypnotherapist or a presenter.

In fact, with just a few brief encounters, Sia has Ray reevaluating his entire life and making arrangements to make his world safer for her.The attraction between Sia and Ray is explosive!! Both are very clear about their wants and desires and once Ray figures out that Sia has certain triggers (both good and bad!) he works diligently to be the man she needs, the man she can wholly giver herself to and trust. All Sia asks from Ray is honesty but the very nature of his works calls for secrecy and though their sexual chemistry is off the charts, it is hard for Sia to trust a man who can’t fully open up to her. On so many occasions Ray assures Sia she is safe with him and that he is doing everything possible to disentangle himself from the darkness but before he can completely break away, Sia is taken and once again her safety is threatened.The Bottom Line: Sarah Castille is not slowing down with the Redemption series and in fact, she seems to be picking up steam and moving full-speed ahead!! Ray and Sia’s story is laced with danger, intense sexuality, some incredible fighting and, a plot that just steam rolls right over you leaving you wasted and completely satisfied. Over the course of the read, Sia TRULY takes control of her life on every level from dealing with her past, to her job right on through to her love life. Sia has always been strong but as the read progresses and events unfold, she sees her strength and that allows her to become the woman she was always meant to be. Ray is likely the only man at Redemption who can handle Sia, her past and her future. Though he comes across as hard, unbendable and damn scary and he totally is, he is - at least with Sia – caring, patient and, giving. Ray understands what Sia needs and is exactly the man to give it to her.Though there are other things and other characters in this read, Ray and Sia dominate and from start to finish I was completely OK with this arrangement. Full Contact is yet another example of how Sarah Castille fuel my love of sexy, awesome reads and fosters my total and complete disregard for sleep and the day ahead. 

I read between 2-6 books a week. I love buying from Amazon (even though they can be a pain about timely uploads every once in awhile 😉) because of their return policy. I don't use this a lot but it's nice to have if a book really is lacking. Earlier today I was reading a book by a favorite author & I was so disappointed to have to return it. Anyway to make a short story long I saw Full Contact was out on one of my Facebook pages and wondered if it was worth the price. I love Sarah Castille but I am a cheap & don't usual pay more then $3-$4 for my ebooks. The answer was unequivocally YES! This book made me happy, sad, angry, and proud. I am a lover of HEA either in one novel or over a series of them. I like characters that have issues, are humorous, provide great suspense, and in some ways are a little frustrating. Sia & Ray were all of these. They provided intelligence, sexiness, and deep emotion to every chapter. I have read the previous 2 books in this series & they are really wonderful but I believe Full Contact shows how much this series has grown. Loved, Loved this book! 5 star all the way!

I’m going to keep this review short and sweet. Full Contact was a really enjoyable read for me. I loved Ray and Sia’s story. The last few years of Sia’s life has been anything but easy. She now finds herself living in the shadows and taking the easy way out. The last thing she was prepared for was Ray. Ray was quite, but an excellent fighter. Total alpha male. From the moment he met Sia, he knew he had to have her. She brought light into his life and made him want to leave all the darkness behind.This book pulled me into the from the first page. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down. The characters were fun and easy to connect with. I loved the side characters and there are a few that I’m hoping will get their own stories.I thought Full Contact was sexy, full of steam, angst, romance, action and suspense. I will warn you though, that this book does deal with some tough subject matter. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the next one.* I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

What a wonderful story! Loved Ray and Sia, a tattoo artist. Ray is an underground MMA fighter and he meets Sis in a tattoo shop. Sis is the survivor of a sexual assault so she has taken a sabbatical from relationships. Ray is a PI and also has his secrets. They try to leave each other alone but the attraction is too strong.Watching these two wounded people fall in love is so emotionally and physically intense that it's a wonder my kindle did not catch on fire!! One off the most tender but steamy love scenes I've ever read is when did decides to give herself completely to Ray, OMG!!!just a really great seriesI have read all the books in the series and each book gets better

Wasn't sure about this one. Of the Redemption series, the 1st book was my fave and I did read the 2nd one as well. I see a trend now with this series: the heroines have an inner strength but are wishy-washy in that they don't ask for help even when it's readily in front of them. The heroines make the relationship even more complicated than needs to be and they need to better understand their men love and adore them.I wasn't a fan of this one because Sia keeps leaving Ray and Ray keeps saying he is hurting Sia. Why can't anyone see he was only trying to help?!My one good thing about this is Torment and Rampage have significant roles in this book (Doctor Death kinda does, too) and Tag's ring name, Fuzz -- that's cute.

Ray is a underground fighter and a PI. He is know as the Predator. Sia is a tattoo artist that has caught he eye. He know she comes to see him fight. He tries to fight the attraction he has or her but he cant. She has been in love with him for a very long time. When Ray gets his claws into her he makes it know that she is his even to her. He vows to keep her safe . Tormet is still my favorite. But Ray comes in a close second. Love this book.

Writing the the 52 Lists Project has been an incredible journey for me. It all started out as a project on my blog, motivated by my own desires to improve my life, combat depression and anxiety, and my passion to empower women and children across the world by encouraging reflection and a pro-active attitude. I started my business Moorea Seal (also my name) with just $10, some hand me down jewelry pliers, some thrifted jewelry and a whole lot of determination. Great, tons to do, will keep me busy.

When I saw the 52 Lists Project on Amazon I immediately requested it because, like many of you reading this review, I make lists and have done so for most of my life. But the Lists Project is exciting for me because it is not fundamentally about making "To Do" lists, but instead lists to help us get in touch with what is important to us in our life. Wonderful.The book is divided into seasons, and as we are 2/3 of the way through summer, I decided to start with List 36 - List Everything You Love to Do Outdoors. I started my list with my number one outdoor activity - "walking." Of course, I would prefer to be walking at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham on Cape Cod, but around the neighborhood also works quite nicely. For number two I put "water garden and flowers," which I love doing every day.Now, here's where the book takes on new meaning. At the end of the space for our lists our author asks us to think about indoor activities that we can bring outdoors. I immediately wrote down "meditate." It seems to me that being outdoors will bring a new dimension to this important indoor activity. Then I wrote "eating." I thought, why not bring my cereal outdoors and enjoy it with some sunshine?The very next day I meditated and ate breakfast outdoors and enjoyed these new experiences. Winter and ten degree below zero weather will be a problem for these activities, but I'll deal with that in January - now it is August.I think readers of this review get the idea about the lists, but quickly I'll give one more example - List the Ways You Get Energized. Perfect. First on my list was "writing," as in writing this review. This activity takes all my concentration and attention and I like that. Next I put "music." I am listening to Mozart for study and concentration as I write this. I love Mozart and his music is a part of all my days. I won't bore you further, readers, you get the idea.The 52 Lists Project is a well-made hard cover book with many delightful pictures inside of it. It will stand up well over time.One more thing. Our author Moorea Seal has her own, quite extensive web site: (MooreaSeal.com/pages/52Lists). Those readers who want to connect with other list makers can do so using the web site. I decided not to take advantage of this opportunity.Summary: If you are a list maker who wants to take your practice to a new level, I think you are going to enjoy The 52 List Project. This book is a great gift--to yourself or someone else. As a grad student and a person suffering from depression, I find it challenging to deal with some of the day to day stresses since I have trouble seeing the bigger picture at times and become overwhelmed. This journal is absolutely amazing for being so simple.I believe another reviewer called this a "Low pressure" journal and I love that description. It's accurate. The cover is beautiful, and I am one of those people who love lists and planners, so this is the perfect journal. Seal provides just enough structure for you to make the prompts your own and you can write as much or as little as you want. I find that sitting down and writing my list each week is something I look forward to.More importantly, after each list there is an "action item." I truly think that this is one of the journal's biggest strengths. By focusing on the positives I am learning to cope with my stress and become more self aware. Obviously depression cannot be treated with this journal alone but I have made more progress with this journal than with a month of therapy.

This really is a fun and beautiful, rustic book. It inspires reflection and self discovery. It's sturdy with clean, crisp, thick pages that have ample space for all of your list items. It feels good in my hands and brings me joy. (Marie Kondo, anyone?)I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 for three reasons.1. It is subtitled, "A year of weekly journaling inspiration" which is actually a little confusing. It's not really a book of writing prompts since you're making lists, not writing stories. (Though, it's yours so do what you want!)2. I realized that what I like about lists is that feeling of accomplishment when crossing something off of it. These aren't that kind of lists, folks. Nothing to cross off!3. The "take action" at the bottom actually kind of makes me feel stressed out. Not only do I not get to cross anything off of my lists, but now I have all these other things to do AND an entire book that I can't finish for a year. Ridiculous? Probably. But are there others out there like me who feel compelled to finish it in one sitting so they don't have to feel guilty when they realize it's one more thing they never finished? I hope so... so, that being said, I haven't done it a week at a time like it was intended. I usually do 3 or 4 prompts at once. It's fun to think through what I'd do with a million dollars, or the things that make me laugh, or my quirks, or the people that light up my life...The great thing about these kinds of books though is that there aren't any real limits. Do with it as you will, whatever sparks joy!

I got this book because i suffer with depression but I think this is a book every person would benefit from annually. I don't care if u have done it a hundred times because it makes u focus on the positive things in your life and leads you to find ways to salvage relationships, value family and take inventory of yourself. It asks questions that you have to put thought into and it makes you look at yourself. It makes u think about what makes u happy and what you need to do to find more happiness. It should be given to every person from 10 on up. It encourages purging of negative thoughts and actions as well as belongings. I feel a lot less cluttered physically as well as mentally when I clean a room of all things that I don't need or use and that is part of this book. I plan to do this year after year. You review the same page for a week but most pages can be done in two minutes or u can go deeper and really get into the activity but either way you benefit from lightening your load of worry, stress and clutter.

It can be distracting, possibly even irritating for some, and it's tempting to throw a snarky remark or two at the author or his publisher for this visual faux pas. Mine will come in the form of deducting a point from a perfect recommendation here. Enough said.Lawrence Dorfman has offered us well-calculated directions on when and how to throw your colleagues and co-workers the prods of timely snark from this collection from the most accomplished literary masters of the craft of the well-stated insult. This book is a treasure trove for those who appreciate the art of snark. Recommended to any and all who enjoy this witty genre.9/5/2012

It is a sarcastic approach. It fits my sense of humor although it might not be universally approved or appropriate.It belongs to an era of dialectics and rhetorics, and not to the present reality TV, tweeter and Facebook social BS.Long live the Snarks. Bring us back the dark ages of intellect and profound thinking.

This book goes way back to the 60's and loses it's pique with jokes that might have been funny at the time if you were in on the current events. By today, it's rather hohum.

Plenty of laughs here, although some of the comments hit a little close to home.

Like most are reviewing, this is not a professional read.It has many spelling errors and at some points you say "is that even a sentence?"I got this for my brother in law who is 14 and he loved it.If you are an adult... skip it. You are better off just surfing the web and kicking a good kick out of online articles.

I am a school librarian for grades 3-8 and this book is a big hit every year with the students who love video games.

My son is a huge fan of this edition. We found a 2013 version at the thrift store earlier 2018 and he fell in love with it because it highlight some of his favorite characters. I surprised him with the 2019 edition and he is on cloud nine. It's a pretty informative and colorful text. I recommend it!

I bought this book for my 13-year-old grand nephew and read it before wrapping it for a Christmas present. The pictures and information are really--forgive me for saying this--cool! It's a gamers collectible! Bright, glossy, informative, and just plain fun to read.

I bought this for my 10 year old son and he loves it. He brought it to school everyday for a week as his "free time" reading book. He would always come home and tell me all the cool records he read about. It has very current games in it and lots of info.

Guinness has kept this record book relevant by following the trends in gaming and the interests of gamers.

I have bought this for my teenage grandson for the last four years. He is always happy to get this.

 I have a couple of coloring books which include dance scenes in them so I thought I would enjoy this book. I also like intricate designs so I was not concerned about small elements and tiny spots to color.What I wasn't prepared for was just how busy this coloring book would be in reality. Every portion of the design, except for any part of a person where flesh is showing (e.g., face, arm, hands, legs) is filled with either ovals or triangles. It is so busy that it is difficult to figure out where something starts and something else begins.The lines that are outlines are somewhat bolder than the doodle designs but I still found it difficult to decipher initially. Once I got into coloring the design, I was able to figure things out. In addition to the multitude of doodles, there are little bits and pieces of surprise elements hidden in the designs. That made it a bit more fun but not as much as many of my other coloring books.What I really liked about the coloring book was the diversity of dances that are shown in it. There are modern dance, ball room dance, street dance, and many types of cultural dances as well.This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper. In the comments section below, I will list the coloring medium I used to test this book and which I use for coloring most of my projects.31 Extremely Intricate Dance DesignsPrinted on one side of the pagePaper is standard for Creative Haven: medium weight, white, lightly rough and perforatedGlue bound but pages can be removed easily at perforationsDesigns stop before the perforationsAlcohol and water based markers bleed through to some degreeGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the pageI suggest using a blotter page below your working page or removing pages before coloring. Card stock or several sheets of heavy weight paper works well.Coloring pencils work well with this paper. Both wax and oil based pencils lay down good color, layer and blend well. Hard lead pencils leave dents on the back of the page.

I LOVE this little book! Best buy of the year for myself! Very informative, gives great descriptions and pictures are clear and vivid. Recommend this book to all rockhounds!

Great little book, very nice pictures and a good key at the front to help identify specimens. Note the use of the word "little", it's only about half the size of a normal paperback, I didn't even notice it when it came in a box with something else, but that makes it small enough to easily fit in a jacket pocket to take on hikes, it's not a drawback. Good little book.

This is a great little book. Just like the botany plant ID books, but for rocks & minerals. Makes going out hiking and camping with the kids even more fun and sometimes exciting, on the cheap. Things they find themselves and may be special, with just a little research on the parent's part to pick a likely place for successful rock-hounding. What's not to love!?!

I got this for my girlfriend that has an interest in geology. She loves this book and the detail it provides! We plan on using it to become local rock hounds!

The book shows some of the specimen in a natural state, unpolished, which is helpful in rock hounding.
